Short history of the school / Na kratko o zgodovini šole

Gymnasium Murska Sobota was started in 1919 and in the first school year of 1919/20 had 33 students enlisted ( LOL ENLISTED ). First graduates of the Gymnasium finished their final exams in 1929, because the Gymnasium at that time was an 8 year program. It remained so until 1958/59, when it changed to a 4 year program, we're using now. At that time, our Gymnasium had 186 students.
In the school year 1980/81 Gymnasium Murska Sobota combined with the Centre of vocational schools became the High school centre of technological/pedagogical direction. That was a time of orientated education, which lasted until 1989/90, when a generation with gymnasium program reappeared. In the school year of 1991/92 an independent Gymnasium Murska Sobota was created, as we know it today.

Gimnazija Murska Sobota je bila ustanovljena leta 1919 in v prvem šolskem letu 1919/20 vpisala 33 dijakov. Prvi maturanti soboške gimnazije so opravili zrelostni izpit šele junija 1929, saj je bila takrat gimnazija osemletna. Vse do šolskega leta 1958/59 je osemletna tudi ostala, s tem letom pa smo dobili štirirazredno gimnazijo, ki jo je obiskovalo 186 dijakov.

V šolskem letu 1980/81 se je Gimnazija združila s Centrom poklicnih šol v Srednješolski center tehniško-pedagoške usmeritve. To je bil čas usmerjenega izobraževanja, ki je trajal do leta 1989/90, ko se je spet vpisala generacija s programom gimnazije. V šolskem letu 1991/92 je bila ponovno ustanovljena samostojna šola Gimnazija Murska Sobota.
